If your kid or kids go to public preschool in Danville, you have a few choices for the summer. The public schools close down for three months, as you know, so what are your options?
Well, one is to stay at home with the kids yourself – which is just fine if you don’t have to go to work. Unfortunately, in the 21st century, many families need both parents to work in order to produce enough income. If that is the case, one parent staying at home is not going to be the perfect solution, even if the employer will allow it.
Another answer might be to put the kids into summer camp. But then the hours might be very limited anyway, and do the kids really learn anything? Probably not very much.
All of which leaves us, at Learn And Play Montessori. Our summer program is one of Danville’s best summer kids’ programs because it does what it says on the tin: LEARN and PLAY. Better still, we use the Montessori method of learning which means that the kids learn because they WANT to learn, rather than they have to learn. We open at 7.00 am and we don’t close until 6.30 pm which is another reason why we are one of Danville’s best summer kids’ programs. It means that, whatever your working hours, you can drop your kids off on the way to work and pick them up on the way home again. What could be more convenient?
Eight Big Classrooms Of Montessori Materials
We have a lovely Tudor cottage style campus with eight great big classrooms filled with Montessori materials. The way that the Montessori method works is that the child chooses what to learn. You read that correctly. We don’t tell the child what to do. Rather, he chooses for himself. He is free to wander around the classroom until he finds something which interests him.
When he does, he can then sit down and explore that material on his own. What he is actually doing is setting off on a lifelong path of learning, because he is learning about something because he wants to find out more about it. If you think about it, this makes total sense. He very quickly becomes excited about learning for its’ own sake.
This is why so many of our parents say that we provide one of Danville’s best summer kids’ programs, because our children actually enjoy the learning process. It turns schooling on its head, because we are not teaching: rather, the children are learning.
So if you are looking for somewhere for your kid for the summer, come and take a look at our campus and see how well-adjusted the children are.
